Layers are fun and add great textural interest to pictures. Solid colors work well, but feel free to layer them up with plaids or stripes. I like darker, richer colors, instead of whites and khaki's, especially for fall. Bring a couple options & I can help you decide.

Those colors are rich and very appropriate for fall. They have a couple other combos too. Paint swatch combos are an awesome starting point for what looks good together.
Don't stress - most any thing you pick will look great. Try to avoid logos and printed shirts - they can really "date" a picture.
